About Rosie
Rosie is a full time artist specialising in papercut collage and linocut printmaking. She lives and works near York.
Originally from Masham, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Rosie studied art foundation at York College before moving to Carlisle to study fine art at the Cumbria Institute of the Arts (now the University of Cumbria). In 2007 Rosie returned to Masham where she set up a studio and began making and selling small collages using vintage and found materials, inspired by travel and influenced by the work of Peter Blake.
In 2009 Rosie relocated to York, and a year later chose to pursue a full time career in art. Today Rosie's work can be found in contemporary galleries around the UK, as well as one-off exhibitions and art fairs. Rosie's work has developed over time into large-scale papercut map collages and linocuts, but the initial inspirations are still the same; travel, adventure and the use of recycled materials which are not normally recognised for their decorative qualities.
Rosie loves to travel and uses the buildings and environments she visits as inspiration for her work. In 2005 and 2009 Rosie spent August at the Cyprus College of Art in Lemba, as part of a summer school programme, working in the studios and using the local environment to influence a new body of work.
Rosie has also worked as a tutor at ArtisOn, Masham, teaching one day workshops in creative subjects such as Contemporary Papercutting, Collage and Decorative Papercrafts . For more information on Rosie's art courses take a look at the Workshops page.
Rosie now lives in a village near York with her partner, cat and daughter.
