Rosie will be exhibiting the largest collection of her work to date, along with the work of ceramicist Charlotte Morrison, at Fountains Hall, the beautiful Elizabethan country house on the grounds of Fountains Abbey near Ripon. The exhibition explores buildings, trails and tracks hidden within the northern landscape, and will feature brand new work from both artists. Rosie and Charlotte will be there on site everyday to chat to visitors.
Rosie's work will feature in the summer edition of Follies magazine (produced by the Folly Fellowship), where she talks about the exhibition, and how she became interested in follies...

“I ‘discovered’ follies a couple of years ago. I say discovered –
having grown up near to Hackfall and spending many a childhood weekend wandering
around country houses and over moorland I had of course come into contact with
many already. But it wasn’t until I was involved in an exhibition all about
Hackfall, and made a large piece featuring Mowbray Castle, Fisher’s Hall and the
Rustic Lodge, that I realised that the buildings I was being drawn to all seem
to come under this umbrella name.”

“Once I started researching the subject more extensively, I
couldn’t believe how many fascinating and bizarre towers and temples there were
dotted all over the country that I had never really considered. At first my
interest lay solely in their appearance; the turrets, domed roofs and detailed
windows, but the more follies I have discovered the more I find their histories
interesting too. I love the thought of a building being constructed for
romance, or one-upmanship, or to make a political statement, or simply to show
off. The thought that people built things to look ruined delights me no end. "
